Sir,
I have the honour to request that early steps
may be taken to select four Assistant Histresses for the
Education Department.
2. Provision is made in the 1927 Estimates
(page 60) for 30 British Histresses.
At present there are
26, and upon the terminetion of Miss Roberts' engagement early in February next (see your despatch No.311 of 28th November, 1923) there will be five vacancies, one of
which, however, is being filled by the appointment of a
Wlor Flutsf/26~ysical training instructress, see your despatch No.248

3. It is desired that three of the mistresses
should be teachers with Board of Education Certificate or
University Teaching Diploma. A University Degree is desirable but not essential. They should be able to teach
general subjects and one of them should have been trained
in Kindergarten work.
The fourth should be an Art mistress, able
also to teach general subjects.
4. I should be glad if in connection with these
appointments Miss Berth and Fiss Ralls, whose applications
were forwarded in your despatch No.333 of 5th October, 1926,
